The government provides a self-certificate form which covers you for the first seven calendar days of illness (these forms are available from reception). Thereafter you will need to see the doctor to get a medical certificate. Please note requests for appointments for medical certificates are not treated as an emergency. If you think your illness will continue after the self-certification period, please make an appointment for a date as soon as possible after the self-certification expires.
The doctors do not issue 'fit' certificates without seeing patients. If your employer does not accept the self-certificate form you will need to make an appointment for a private medical certificate. There will be a charge for this
